May 13, 2011: FEPI Presentation before the EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health
On Friday May 13th 2011, the Federation of the European Play industry (FEPI) took once again part in the EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health.
The EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health is self-described as a forum for European-level organisations, ranging from the food industry to consumer protection NGOs, World Health Organization and Member States representatives, willing to commit to tackling current trends in diet and physical activity.
The topic of the meeting was the promotion of Physical Activity, along with a morning presentation of the Agricultural policy in relation to Nutrition.
This May 13th meeting of the Platform was the occasion for Mr Mark Hardy, Executive Vice President Europe of PlayPower, to make a presentation on the subject of the commitment of FEPI to the Platform and more generally on the various recent projects FEPI took part in.

March 21, 2011: FEPI’s Participation in the MOVE Kick-off Meeting in Frankfurt , 21st -22nd of March 2011
FEPI is proud to announce that it takes part, as an associate partner, in the European Physical Activity Promotion Forum (MOVE), an action by International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA). In total, more than 20 partners are directly involved in MOVE to identify, qualify and implement good practices in cross-cutting community initiatives to promote health- enhancing physical activity in socio-economically disadvantaged areas. The project has started with the kick- off meeting in Frankfurt on 21st and 22nd of March, at which a common ground for this 3 year project was created. During its duration 15 pilot actions will be implemented based on good practices and innovative, cross-sector partnerships developed in the project. This will add to the body of knowledge and experience that ultimately will enable the targeted groups to be more physically active.
March 18, 2011: SANTE’s Final Conference “Looking into the future”, Prague 18th-20th of March
SANTE, an ambitious effort of 17 partners representing sport organisations, esteemed universities, businesses and local government, has just came to an end. The project, in which FEPI took part, addressed and acted upon the contemporary challenge of improving Europeans’ health by organizing national health campaigns, education and training of health professionals, project exchanges and bilateral workshops based on learning and discussions of good practices. The project increased the promotional activities regarding the importance of physical activity for health within the HEPA programs, healthcare system, education, working environments and in local and national communities and served as an inspiration for the development of new physical activity programs for European citizens.
December 21, 2010: FEPI’s President re-elected
European Federation’s members unanimously agreed that Johanna Ikäheimo, Lappset CEO, would cover FEPI’s President position for an additional year until the end of 2011. Strong leadership, represented by Ms. Ikäheimo, will certainly contribute to FEPI’s success in the promotion and representation of the interests of the entire play industry sector.

Who Are We ?
The Federation Of the European Play Industry is a non-profit association at European level comprising European-based companies and European national play industries federations.
FEPI represents the interests of the most responsible manufacturers and distributors of both outdoor and indoor play equipment and safety surfacing.
The products can rank from inflatable structure to traditional slides, swings and everything in between.
History
The Federation of the European Play Industry has been officially created in 2002 in Noordwijk (Netherlands) by a combined effort of the major industries in the play market.
Mission Statement
The main purposes of FEPI are:
- To raise awareness of the importance of children's play for all the well being of children at the European level.
- To provide its members with permanent information on all European regulations, i.e. proposes laws, political decisions and pending decisions.
- To assist its members in their relations with the institutions of the European Union.
- To organise seminars and international conferences.
- To represent the interests of the European Play Industry vis-à-vis the European institutions, and the international organisations.
- To represent its member firms, as far as possible, vis-à-vis the European Court of Justice.
